BSA .303 Lee Speed. Sporting Rifle. (Number 3 pattern sporting rifle)
Built on a SMLE action, probably circa 1910. Charger bridge, magazine cut off, standard thumb safety. Ten round detachable magazine. Chequered walnut semi-pistol grip stock with BSA "Piled Arms" butt plate and sling attachments. Platinum laid Express sights for 100, 200 and 300 yards with ladder rearsight graduated to 1000 yards.
Bore good, slightly dull towards the muzzle but bright at chamber end. Rifling well defined. Marked "Proved and sighted for the Mk.VI cartridge."
The stock has many small dings and marks suggesting a rifle that has seen a lot of field use but going by the overall condition has been well maintained.
A classic sporting rifle ready to go to work on the range or on native deer or plains game.
